Terms of Service

Effective date: May 10, 2025

These terms govern the relationship between Rillium and the individuals and organizations who use Rillium Maps. By using the service you agree to them on behalf of yourself and the organization you represent. If you are accepting on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to do so. We have written these terms to be clear and direct. If something here does not make sense, contact us.

Your Data

  • You own it. All maps, feature layers, geometries, attributes, and any other organizational data you create or import belongs to you and your organization. We do not claim any rights to it.
  • We store it to run the service. Your data is stored on infrastructure we operate solely to provide Rillium Maps. We do not analyze it, sell it, license it, or use it for any purpose beyond operating and restoring the service on your behalf.
  • We do not share it. Your organizational data is not shared with third parties except as required by law or as necessary to operate the underlying infrastructure (for example, the cloud hosting provider that stores the encrypted database).

Staff Access

  • No backdoor access.Rillium has no privileged or administrative path into your organization's data. We cannot see your maps, features, or field data by any means other than being invited in by you.
  • Support access requires your invitation. If resolving a support request requires examining your data, a Rillium support account must be invited into your organization by an administrator - the same invite flow used for any other team member. The support account will appear as a visible member of your organization, and your administrator can revoke access at any time.
  • You stay in control.Because access follows your organization's standard permission model, you decide what the support account can see, and you can remove it the moment the issue is resolved.

System Backups

  • Purpose. Your data is included in encrypted system-level backups that exist solely for disaster recovery. If a critical infrastructure failure occurred, they allow us to restore the service.
  • Retention. Backups are retained for 14 days and then permanently deleted on a rolling basis.
  • No secondary use. Backup data is never accessed, read, or used for any purpose other than restoring service after a failure.

Deletion

  • Production systems. When you delete a map, feature, or your organization, that data is removed from our active production systems immediately.
  • Backups. Deleted data may persist in system backups for up to 14 days before it rotates out of the backup window. During that window it is encrypted and inaccessible outside of a disaster recovery event.

Your Responsibilities

  • Data accuracy. You are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and fitness for purpose of all data you create, import, or manage within the platform. Rillium has no visibility into whether your data is correct.
  • Not a professional service. Rillium Maps is a data management and mapping tool, not a licensed engineering, surveying, or advisory service. Nothing in the platform constitutes professional engineering, legal, environmental, or infrastructure advice. You should verify the accuracy of your map data independently before using it to make operational, safety, or infrastructure decisions.
  • Account security. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Acceptable use.You may use the service for any lawful purpose consistent with its intended function. You may not use it to store or transmit illegal content, violate others' rights, or probe, scan, or test our infrastructure security.

Disclaimer of Warranties

  • As-is.The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times.
  • Data. We make no warranty about the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose of data you or others store in the platform. The platform is a vessel for your data, not a source of verified ground truth.

Limitation of Liability

  • No consequential damages. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rillium is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. This includes loss of data, lost revenue, operational disruption, property damage, or physical harm arising from decisions made based on data stored or displayed in the platform.
  • Liability cap.Rillium's total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid to Rillium in the 12 months immediately preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.
  • Basis of the bargain. These limitations reflect a reasonable allocation of risk and are a fundamental element of the agreement between us. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; to the extent those apply, the relevant limitation will be modified to the minimum extent necessary.

Indemnification

  • You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Rillium and its officers, directors, and employees from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from your use of the service, the data you upload or create, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

Service Availability

  • We operate Rillium Maps with reasonable care and aim for high availability. We do not guarantee specific uptime for standard plans. Enterprise plans with contracted SLAs are governed by those agreements.
  • We may perform maintenance that requires brief downtime and will provide advance notice for planned outages.

Changes to These Terms

  • We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated by posting the updated terms here with a revised effective date and by notifying active account holders by email.
  • Continued use of the service after a material change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
